(1) Guide-interpreter, a government regulated profession

The profession of Guide-interpreter has been sanctioned and regulated by the French government under both the law of 13 July 1992 and the decree of 15 June 1994.

Regional Guide-interpreters must pass an exam set at regional level by the local prefecture.

The training is detailed and comprehensive, the examinations rigorous and registration an achievement.
An official Guide-interpreter carries a professional identification card issued by the government. This card is your best guarantee of the seriousness, knowledge and competence one expects from a professional.

Only Guide-interpreters and Lecturers are qualified to guide you inside museums and monuments.

Guide-interpreters can be identified by their official badge.

Ask your Guides for their card or badge.
